Mobile Elevating Trailer Mounted ATC Towers

Trailer Mounted Elevating Air Traffic Control Towers

Trailer Mounted ATC towers can be used to establish safe air traffic control for smaller airports, military deployments, airport Visual Control Room (VCR) refurbishments, disaster relief or special events worldwide. All solutions are designed for simple, rapid deployment by the minimum number of personnel and can be supplied with ATC equipment to suit the customer requirement.

5th Wheel Trailer Mounted Elevating VCR

The MATC 5 th Wheel Trailer based solutions are designed to provide the most complete self-contained deployment solution with storage and generator all on one trailer that can be towed by commercial 5th Wheel HGVs

Tow Bar Trailer Mounted Elevating VCR

The Tow Bar trailer provides the same VCR capability as the 5th Wheel trailer but is slightly shorter. The tow bar capability is preferred by customers in countries where tow bar equipped trucks are common.

Testimonials

MATC are a responsive, flexible contractor. They enabled us to support the demands of our end user customer through program reviews, training, and product acceptance events.  At all stages we were kept informed on progress with regular project updates provided for the duration of the contract. MATC displayed excellent programme and risk management procedures throughout which kept this complex project on track.

The motive for purchasing the Mobile Air Traffic Control Tower was to provide all airports in Lithuania with a quick deployment back up ATC capability within SWIM enabled features by using common fibre links that have been installed at all Lithuanian international airports. Mobile ATC Systems were flexible so we (Oro Navigacija) were able to use in house facilities to integrate the MATC Cabin to meet our needs; this has worked very well for us.

Mobile ATC Systems Ltd helped us to carry out a complex shipment requirement from the manufacturer with a professional approach and good communications. Everything was done in a timely manner and there were no issues with the services we received. We would be happy to engage with Mobile ATC for future service needs.

MATC delivered three ORCs to UNICEF for outreach primary healthcare in Eritrea. Colin Chapman delivered end user training in Asmara to the Health Ministry and UNICEF personnel. Geoffrey Acaye, Chief of Child Survival and Development said “Thank you too for being so supportive in this phase of the project. We will certainly reach out to you for any further support whenever required. I am confident that this initial phase will stimulate the interest of the Government and donors to expand further”.

FAQ's

How big are they?

The standard VCRs are based on ISO-Container sizes and are therefore usually 10 ft (3m) or 20 ft (6m) long and designed for air transport. The elevating platforms and vehicles/trailers they are supported on are designed to suit deployment requirements and when in transit mode range from about 18 ft (5.5m) for the compact Trailer to 33 ft (10m) for the 5th Wheel Trailer. Bespoke options are available.

How high do they elevate?

The typical eye level for an operator is at around 7.5m in the larger elevating units which is sufficient for most airport operational requirements to see the threshold from the VCR. If a higher viewing position is required, then MATC can discuss design options to suit the need.

What Redundancy is Available?

The MATC elevating trailers are designed to provide a “positive drive” up and down which means that in normal operation raising and lowering the platform is done under positive pressure from the hydraulic pump. Hydraulic check valves are in every hydraulic feed line to prevent critical failure in the event of a hydraulic pressure loss and mechanical “stops” are raised behind the scissor lift legs once raised to prevent any opportunity of an unintended lowering of the platform. Mains power can be backed up by a generator with an Automatic Mains Failure Unit. UPS can be provided to hold up critical systems and the hydraulic system is backed up by a manual pump in the highly unlikely event of a complete power failure or hydraulic pump fault.
